# VS Code

> Add Spiral to VS Code.

**1. Add the hosted server**

Use **Add to VS Code** on the console's Agents & MCP page, or run this. VS Code asks for your key the first time
and keeps it in its secret storage.

```bash theme={null}
code --add-mcp '{"name":"spiral","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.spiral.ai","headers":{"Authorization":"Bearer ${input:spiral-api-key}"}}'
```

**2. Verify**

Open VS Code's MCP servers list and check that Spiral is running.

**3. Try a starter prompt**

```text theme={null}
Find a text-to-image tool, tell me what one image costs, then generate a lighthouse at dawn.
```
